This award-winning documentary chronicles the movement to eliminate mascoting-the use and misappropriation of Native American names, logos, and mascots in sports, advertising, and beyond. It examines the origin and proliferation of the words, images, and gestures many Native people and their allies find offensive. Imagining the Indian explores the impact that stereotyping and marginalization of Native history have had on Native and non-native people. It demonstrates current successes and creates a vision for a mascot-free Native future.
