Walking Gloucester
September 9 - September 10

“Walking Gloucester,” Jonathan Bayliss Society’s fifth annual conference on September 9-10, 2023, will explore Gloucester’s diverse neighborhoods in various ways – all from the pedestrian’s perspective. Attendees of the weekend conference will be offered guided walks in lesser-known areas of the city and multidisciplinary talks about the variety of sights and sounds – as well as health benefits! – experienced when sauntering through Gloucester’s byways. The weekend’s events will also include talks on local authors who lived in the city and wrote about its varied landscapes, such as the novelists Peter Anastas and Jonathan Bayliss, poets Vincent Ferrini and Charles Olson, and historian Joseph Garland.
