William Haskell House Tours

April 23, 2023 @ 10:00 am - 4:00 pm

Built at West Gloucester beside a salt marsh by west-englishman William Haskell in 1680, the simple yet grand farmstead was the foundation for the Haskell family in New England. They lived a quiet, simple but difficult frontier life growing crops and raising livestock among the marsh; harvesting hay and sailing it to central Gloucester for sale. Generations of the family grew up within these walls; it’s currently owned by Haskell’s 11th great-grandson.

Remarkably, the house and surrounding landscape has been preserved in almost entirely original condition for nearly 350 years. The handmade heavy wood-framed structure has overlooked the same marsh for all this time with nearly no changes, giving you the opportunity to authentically immerse yourself into the 17th century like nowhere else.

Pay What You Want
You should be able to experience this rare slice of history, no matter your budget.
We require credit card information to reserve the ticket but will not be charged until authorized by you at the end of the tour in any amount you would like. Your proceed will go toward the continued preservation of the home.

Please do not drive up to the home unless you have a confirmed tour time.
Our parking area is extremely limited, our two-way road is very narrow, and we have neighbors that we like.
