This is an excerpt from a life history interview conducted by members of the Down the Fort documentary and archive project with Dominic A. Nicastro Sr. in 2010 at his family’s home in Gloucester, MA. A native of Gloucester with deep roots in the Fort neighborhood of the city, Mr. Nicastro passed away in 2016 at the age of 66 years old. In this interview excerpt, he recalls with great reverence the sacred experiences he had on the water as a commercial fisherman aboard the fishing boats The Gloucester Queen, the Serafina N, and the Rockaway.
