Join Hammond Castle Museum for a very special exhibit of more than two dozen works by Eric Pape (1870 – 1938), the former Cape Ann resident and designer of the “Tablet Rock Memorial” in Stage Fort Park.

Saturday, April 15th – Sunday, April 30th

10:00 am – 3:00 pm daily.

The Museum will close promptly at 4 pm.

At the time of the exhibit, it is expected to be the largest collection of Pape’s artworks on public display anywhere in the world, many of which haven’t been publicly seen in nearly a century. The artwork is primarily on loan from the private collection of avid Pape collector and biographer, Dr. Gregory Conn. Dr. Conn is one of the world’s leading experts on the 20th century artist. On display will be examples of Pape’s work in various mediums including pencil, pen, watercolors, and oils.

This exhibit is in celebration of the completion of restoration and preservation of “The Wireless Naval Battle of Gloucester Bay,” the only surviving mural by the famed artist.

There will be a limited-edition, hard cover, companion guide written by Dr. Conn which will discuss each of the featured artworks in detail, explore the close relationship between Pape and the entire Hammond family as well as include Pape’s biography and feature the restoration of the mural at Hammond Castle Museum. The book, “Eric Pape at Hammond Castle Museum” will be available for purchase at the museum.

This exhibit will also feature a short documentary Pape’s storied life with a highlight on the museum’s mural.

Please note: Mondays through Fridays, the museum will be closed to tours.
On Saturdays and Sundays, guests may also enjoy self-guided tours.

Tickets are: Adults: Mondays through Thursdays: $10 with access to the Exhibit.

Saturdays and Sundays: $20 with access to the Exhibit and the opportunity to take a self-guided tour of the museum. 

Children 12 years old and younger are welcome for free throughout the program but require a ticket. 

Proceeds from this exhibit will support the creation and maintenance of a longer-running Pape exhibit at the museum.
